SRS integration in Sailarena
In a registration for a competition using SRS-rating, the current rating is automatically retrieved when you enter your custom rating certificate number or a standard boat's “table-rating” certificate number. Scroll down this page and you will find the most frequently asked questions and answers how it works
Registration in Sailarena
The organizer can choose to use the integrated functions to retrieve valid rating numbers in a registration process, but some organizers have their own registration module or procedure that is located outside Sailarena. In such cases, other functions apply.
When you register and the organizer requests SRS rating certificates, you can manually type your rating certificate number in the designated field. It is however possible to write the first letter and numbers in your rating certificate and a list of corresponding active rating certificates will be displayed, from where you can make your choice. They are shown in the format "Rating certificate number - Boat type - sail number" so that you can easily see that the rating certificate applies to your particular boat. It is also possible to start typing in the name of the boat type and a short list of the first hits will appear. For example, if you type "Maxi", you will see 10 lines with different rating certificates for different Maxi boats. If your boat is not included, add more characters, "Maxi 77" and only rating certificates for this boat type (and "Maxi 777) will be shown.
Click on the correct row in the drop-down list and the rating certificate number will be filled into the field. Below, a check control row with the rating certificate number, boat type and sail number is shown in the row below.
The current rating is then automatically retrieved and read into the "Rating" field. It is not possible to edit this rating yourself.
Multihull boats
If you want to register for an SRS competition with your multihull boat, you do the same as above. Multihull letters of measurement have the prefix "F" before the certificate of measurement number, but you can also search for the type of boat in the same way as keelboats and dinghies shown above.
Multihull table boats are unfortunately so far an exception to this feature, as we still need to fix these boats in the feature. Instead, you can manually enter the name of the boat type and the organizer needs to manually find the rating in the multihull table and use it in the result calculation.
Dinghy-SRS
If you want to sign up for an SRS competition with your dinghy, you follow the same steps as above. Dinghies in the SRS table have the prefix "J" before the rating certificate number, e.g. "J0505". (The dinghy table is being integrated into the regular keelboat table, but is not yet complete now in Nov 2025)
Standard Table Keelboat
If you want to sign up for an SRS competition with your boat which does not carries a custom SRS certificate, but is listed among the standard boats in the “SRS-table”, you follow the same procedure as described above. If you know what “table-certificate” number belong to your boat type you can enter it directly. The table boats have the prefix "T" before the rating certificate number. Otherwise, you enter the name of the boat type and find the line that indicates the rating certificate number with the prefix "T" or that is named "Tabellbåt” (equals ”SRS-table boat") instead of a sail number.
Standard Certificate Keelboat
“Standard certificate” for keelboats are actually the same as “SRS-table certificate”, but with a limited possible variations to get compensation on the rating in terms of furling system, propeller and the number of sails on board. You can create one such Standard Certificate free of charge per season for your boat, and it takes a minute from application to validity. A Standard Certificate always has the prefix "B" and will also appear in the drop-down list to choose from in the same way as any other rating certificate. You start writing the boat type or the first characters.
Shorthand
For keelboats, there is a separated rating for shorthand racing (doublehanded or singlehanded). While it is also available for Dinghies or Multihulls, the rating will not be different.
In order to register with a shorthand rating, the organizer must state this in the notice of race. In addition, create a separate 'competition' in the Regatta where the 'class' is set to 'SRS Shorthand'.
The rating for shorthand is automatically retrieved for each boat that registers for this ‘class’. If the 'class' is stated as only "SRS", i.e. not shorthand, the grace number that refers to normal crew is retrieved. Of course, it is always possible to sail shorthand in such a competition, but it is not allowed, or possible, to use the shorthand rating unless the invitation and registration function are set up for it.
Dividing the registration function in this way does not necessarily mean that starts or result lists are separated. It depends on how the organizer has stated this in the Notice of Race.
Registration without spinnaker
For keelboats and multihull boats, normally there are a reduction in rating if you want to sail without a flying headsail (e.g. spinnaker, gennaker, code-sail). However, please note the dinghy rating does not get any reduction for this option.
If the organizer allows rating without Flying Headsail, by stating it in the Notice of Race, also the registration function is activated so that you can choose this either at registration or before the start. If Flying Headsails is deselected, the corresponding rating is automatically retrieved from the certificate. It works the same way whether for sailing with normal crew numbers or shorthand.
The measurement certificate is not yet active - can I still register?
If the SRS certificate is not active at the time of registration, or if you have not yet applied for a new one, or it has not yet been approved, you can still register. If you know which SRS certificate number you have/have had, enter it manually. The check control line will state " Inga mätetal hittade för XXXX” (equals “Valid certificate not found") but the organizer will update the link before starting. However, you yourself, need to make sure that the rating certificate is valid and published before the start or by the organizer stated the last day for updating.
Remember that an application for a custom SRS rating certificate always takes minimum 10 days from the application until it becomes valid. This applies to new applications, renewals and changes. You can manage your measurement certificate in the "Mätbrevsportalen” (equals “The portal of Rating certificates")
Change of rating certificate before start
If you make a change to a custom SRS certificate after you have registered for a regatta, the rating also needs to be updated before starting. The organizer does this before the start or at the time specified in the invitation.
In many cases, the organizer leaves certain information open for editing of an already made registration before the start. It may be open for supplements of your registration with different things. If your registration has a green tick in your list of "My registrations", everything is ready, while a red triangle indicates that there is missing information BUT also that the organizer need to manually approve your information. The organizer can choose to leave the SRS certificate number editable even after your registration. In such a case, you can automatically update the current rating, published in the “Mätbrevsportalen” by deleting and then re-entering your SRS certificate number (e.g. E4567). If your new measurement certificate, your renewal or change has become valid, the current rating will be retrieved.
Sailarena fetches incorrect rating!
Should the registration or the participants list view incorrect rating, you first need to check what is published in the “Mätbrevsportalen”. The rating retrieved might be the one that applied when registering and will not be updated automatically. Only if or when the organizer chooses to update the rating for your or all of the registrations, new values be retrieved from the “Mätbrevsportalen”. It must always be done before the first start but at the same time no later than the date stated in the Notice of Race.
Should incorrect rating still be displayed, you need to contact the organizer to sort this out.
Keep your Boat profile updated
Simplify your next registration process by making sure that your personal profile contain information needed. In the event of a new registration, most of the information from the profile will automatically be copied to the registration, but still editable.
The same goes for your boat and the boat profile you can create. Data entered into a boat profile will automatically be retrieved when requested in an entry form
